Butter Toffee Pretzels

Sweet, salty, crunchy, and addictive — these butter toffee-coated pretzels are the perfect easy snack or homemade gift!

Ingredients

· 4 cups pretzel twists, mini pretzels, or pretzel sticks (about 8 oz)
· ½ cup unsalted butter
· ½ cup packed light brown sugar
· 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
· ¼ teaspoon baking soda
· Optional toppings:
· ½ cup semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips, melted
· Flaky sea salt
· ¼ cup chopped pecans or almonds
· Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prepare: Preheat oven to 250°F (120°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Spread Pretzels: Arrange pretzels in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  3. Make Toffee Coating: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and brown sugar together, stirring frequently. Once melted and smooth, bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2 minutes without stirring.
  4. Finish Sauce: Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and baking soda (mixture will foam slightly).
  5. Coat Pretzels: Immediately pour the toffee sauce over the pretzels. Use a spatula or spoon to gently toss and coat evenly.
  6. Bake: Bake for 45–50 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until pretzels are glazed and appear dry.
  7. Cool: Remove from oven and let cool completely on the baking sheet. The toffee will harden as it cools.
  8. Optional Toppings: If adding melted chocolate, drizzle or dip once pretzels are completely cool. Sprinkle with sea salt, nuts, or sprinkles before chocolate sets.
  9. Store: Once fully cooled and set, break apart any large clusters. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Tips

· Stir gently to avoid breaking pretzels.
· For extra crunch, let pretzels cool completely before eating.
· Double the recipe for gifts or parties—they disappear fast!
