Crispy Honey Butter Fried Chicken
Ingredients:
2 lbs chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, or tenders)
2 cups buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp paprika
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
For the honey butter glaze:
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup honey
Pinch of salt
Directions:
Preheat oil in a deep skillet or frying pan to 350°F (175°C). Use enough oil to submerge the chicken halfway.
Marinate the chicken: In a large bowl, soak the chicken in buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for extra tenderness).
Coat the chicken: In another bowl, mix flour with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off, then coat well in the seasoned flour.
Fry the chicken: Carefully place chicken pieces into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 10–15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temp 165°F/74°C).
Make the glaze: While the chicken rests on a paper towel-lined plate, melt butter in a small saucepan. Stir in honey and a pinch of salt. Simmer for 1–2 minutes.
Glaze and serve: Brush the warm honey butter over the crispy fried chicken just before serving. Delicious with biscuits, coleslaw, or mashed potatoes!
